The project ’Charity4u’ is targeted to encourage young people to show committment to our society. As one nowadays is often asked to supply aid in monetary terms, we would like to show different ways in which one can help by doing charity work. This addresses people who don’t have the means to bestow monetary aid, but also people who would like to feel good about themselves, develop themselves further and learn something about who they are because of donating time to do charity work.
We would like to present some examples of where one could show involvement, current charity organizations and share the experiences which we learned when we worked doing certain projects. We would also be grateful if others would share their motives and experiences concerning charity work, to develop a platform for everyone interested in helping and making this world a better place.
Finally! We are going to present our “opus”
to a very important audience: our professor !
But seriously, I am quite excited how our fellow colleagues would react to our project. To our choice of topic? Would they understand and feel addressed by our attempt to convey the feeling of satisfaction by helping others? Would they like the layout and our posts?
We will see and do our best to delight our audience.
Level of Motivation: very optimistic!
Unbelievable! We have the presentation about Charity4U in two days!! There is still a lot of work to be done, although the structure is clear and everybody knows what she is talking about. I will now write my text and tomorrow we will meet up, finish the power point presentation and start rehearsing. I hope everything will go well!
After our really good experience with DRK and the first blood donation ever (at least for Janina and me), we received an invitation by the German Red Cross to come back and donate again.
Yes, unbelievable that the three required months, that our blood needed to regenerate itself, are already over. And we are now able to do it again.
So, will we do it? We had a small talk and came to the same conclusion: of course! – and all together like the last time and with empty stomachs (after the bunch of food we received last time!)
Our destination will this time be the DRK bus at Berlin Alexanderplatz.
So girls, after the exams – deal?
We had our last presentations today before we will present our group project next week. And I have to tell you it was very informative. We got a little insight in what the other groups have done so far with their blog. Of course it is not a nice way to copy from others but you have to get your inspirations from somewhere right?
So now I have added some features I thought might fir very well into our page and since I have now done this now more than once it was no big deal anymore. The last plugin in our family of little plugin friends was the “facebook share” button. Very nice since most people have a facebook account and can share our little blog with the world.
So we have done it! We have found an agreement on where, who and when the next and final project will be. This time we will participate in the project “Starthilfe” here in Berlin. This project is concerned with the immigration of young people.
10 to 12 will be the kids we are spending our time with on wednesday the 10th of febuary. This will be very interesting because we had no project yet that was working with children but it will be a fascinating one and I am really looking forward to it. We don’t know yet who will go but we know the when and the where and thats all we need to know for now.
I know that Rike, Janina and me will be going and I am very certain that Janine and Ella will take over the theoretical part because that one has to be covered too.
That is the positive part in a bigger group. There will always be people that do one part more likely than the other. And so it is in our group. Some are more eager to do the practical part and the others the writing which is quite important too or otherwise you would not have anything to read about.
So come back next week when we tell you more about the project.
Hey there!
Amazing how the time passes…I feel as if we’ve just started with the whole page and our charity work. And now the semester is amost over and the presentation of this blog is coming in a few days. I am very excited. I have to say that I am totally standing behind this whole blog. What started as a slacky idea became more and more fun and exciting. I think that they aren’t that many blogs like this out there and in my opinion it would be actually worth it to continue that blog even if the grades are fixed and the semester is over.
I am curious about the outcome of our presentation…maybe we will get new inputs and, even better, announce our blog to interested people who eventually come to our blog…
Girls Power!!
I just rang off, and there we go, finally our fourth project is settled
It took quite some organisation to get through to the responsible person…but with some compelling persuasiveness, we got access to the girls’ meeting.
Usually, only permanent voluntaries get access to the groups of “Starthilfe”. With various ages of its participants, small groups are set up with an aim: Learning how to play the guitar, how to repair bikes or how to approach school problems, is all included into the wide-ranging learning goals.
With the group’s as well as the voluntaries’ support, Starthilfe aims to make a profound basis of skills and knowledge available to the yougsters.
Next Wednesday, we’ll have the possibility to get an insight into the work of a girls’ group who are all from ten to twelfe. The exact schedule has not been published yet, but I am already positive about the hugely adjuvant effect on the kids’ behaviour and attitude.
The girls come together about every week, thus I suppose their group dynamics are already consolidated pretty much, so that they can effectively work together.
In the end, we’ll see what exactly is waiting for us that afternoon. Be sure, I’ll keep you up-to-date
So here we are now sitting in front of our page and wondering what the hell could be missing on the page and what could be improved.
Also we are trying to figure out what kind of projects we can do before turning in the whole blog. And you know what we have some options but we can’t seem to get our asses up and do something about it. We have made the connections and everything necessary to get started. We even contacted the people in charge but we are not able to find a date where everyone can find time to participate.
So we just push it further and further to the future. I really hope we will find some motivation again to continue our good work because all the projects we have done so far were very interesting.
So come back and check out if we all can find an agreement on what to do next. We will keep you updated.
I think it is now time for a little survey concerning the topic of our blog.
So far we have done some charity work. The rewards were new and interesting experiences, meeting nice people, learning a lot, and spending a good time – but no money at all!
And now we would like to know your opinion!
Thanks for participating!
